As men we have lost our way. Being a man no longer has the same meaning that it did a few years ago. From working hard to support his wife and kids. From loving his neighbor, to his city, to his country. From being men of their word, having morals, honor and integrity. From caring for the weak, the poor, and the widowed. From not cheating, abusing or taking advantage of other people. From working hard to get what they want, not stealing or being a victim to receive free stuff. From knowing what is wrong and right. From having convictions and standing up for what is right.
History reverberates with the actions of men because history IS the actions of men. Our country and our society did not just wake up one day and that's how it became to be. Men and women before us made choices, took action, and paved the way for you and me today. You are who you are today because of the choices you made yesterday. And who you are tomorrow is based on the choices you make today.
Being called to be a man is being called to live your life for others. It's not about what you can do for yourself, it's what you can do for other people. It's not about how great you can be, but how great you can make other people. It's about leaving ever person you meet, better off than when they met you.
There are too many BOYS dressed in men's clothing. There are too many man who act like selfish little boys who only care what they want, and are willing to take advantage of anyone to get it. There are too many men who treat women like they're objects created for man's pleasure. There are too many men who treat kids like they're animals. There are too many men who treat animals like they're trash. We live in a world full of lost, helpless, broken and beaten down people. And instead of men rising up to help and make a difference, men are around every corner to take advantage of these unfortunate people for their own gain. We have too many men who are addicted to something that destroys their family, their job and their relationships with people they love. We have men who get sucked into evil and let their life waste away in a spiral of destruction, unable to think about anyone or anything other than the object that controls them.
It's time for us to stop being part of the problem and start being part of the solution. It's time for men to stand up, to stop looking the other way when bad things happen. It's time for men to gain control of their lives, so that they can live for other people. It's time for men to start reaching out their hand to people less forunate than themselves. It's time for men to start taking pride in what they do at work, in their community, and at home. It's time for men to start giving back to their home, job, and community. It's time to have integrity, to stand up, and to take a stand against evil and evil doers. There is no higher calling than to be called a father and a husband. And it's time for men to stand up and start being the husbands, the fathers, employees, and the heroes that we're called to be. We aren't called to be super heroes, just ordinary, everyday heroes.
